Tonight’s fire sponsor is Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation



TIME OF FIRE:

At the conclusion of the Illuminations of Light tribute at the Flames of Hope Village
in Station Park, there will be a torch procession down to Waterplace Park.
One hundred and fifty torches carried by breast cancer survivors will
circle the basin as the first fires are being lit. 

The fires will be lit at 7:00 p.m. and remain lit until MIDNIGHT.

Please expect delays and potential road closings, it is a busy day in downtown Providence, so try to come down as early as possible!

We are asking everyone to make a donation at a Ribbons of Light Station, where we will be giving out BLUE and PINK ribbons. 

ALL DONATIONS that are made at these stations will support both The Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation and WaterFire Providence.

Starry, Starry Night

One hundred luminous blue stars are suspended in the triangular grove of trees in Memorial Park right next to Hemenway’s restaurant.

Beneath the beautiful blue stars are hundreds of Luminaria candle lanterns flickering on the lawn.  Please join us by making a wish and adding your light to the night.

**The installation is weather dependent and the Star Field will not be on display if the forecast calls for rain.


Bridge of Stars

There will be over 20 blue stars illuminating the bridge in Waterplace Park

An extension of Barnaby Evans’ popular Starry, Starry Night Installation.

Come add your light to the night by making a wish upon a ribbon and hanging your star within the installation.

Inca Son Performance

6:30 p.m. on the Union Plaza steps near the Capital Grille
The internationally acclaimed, award winning music and dance group, Inca SonAll dressed as their Inca forebears they will perform enchanting melodies on their Andean pan-flutes.

Fire Dancers: Spogga & Melissa

Spogga and Melissa perform throughout the park. Catch Spogga & Meillsa, the WaterFire Fire Dancers, spining fire on the river. 

The Gargoyles and the Oracles

The World War I Monument (in Memorial Park near College and South Main Streets) 

Discover the Gargoyles!

The Gargoyles are the creation of Ten31 Productions in Providence.

Mime Artist Michael Grando

Grando performs on the river as his character, Pierrot, tossing hundreds of long-stem carnations to the crowd from a boat starting at 7:00 p.m. and continuing throughout the evening. Michael Grando, the noted master mime, will protray Pierrot (Pedrolino) from the Commedia del’arte, in his naive and everlasting quest to win the heart of a beautiful girl. Each flower that Pierrot tosses to the crowd is accompanied by a different quote that illuminates the connections between life and art.

Andrew Anselmo: "The Origami Guy"

The Origami Guy will be performing in Market Square.
For years, Mr. Anselmo has brought his origami paper creations including frogs, cranes, penguins, and many more to the streets of Providence to the delight of thousands.

The Gloria Gemma 5k will begin at the foot of the Rhode Island State House and take you on a beautiful course through the streets of downtown Providence.
Join the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation as they open a day of festivities!

Gidget’s Kids & Family Block Party

The Flames of Hope Village in Station Park

Right beside the Providence Place Mall and in front of the Rhode Island State House.
Join the Gloria Gemma Foundation as they open the gates to the 2010 Flames of Hope Village with the annual block party.

Fun for the entire family, the party will include programming from "Y on the Move" and performances by "The Rhythm Room".

RiverWalk: Before the Fires are Lit

 

Tours last 60 min. and depart at 5:30 p.m. from the John Brown House Museum on 52 Power Street in Providence

 

This walk shares the history of Rhode Island’s capital city and the history of WaterFire. $10 per person. Half of all ticket proceeds from the river walk benefit WaterFire Providence. The tour takes place on all full lightings, reservations requested: Dalila Goulart @ 401.331.8575 x45 or programs@rihs.org.
